Homemade Granola

This granola is crunchy and just barely sweet. Unsweetened applesauce replaces the heavy oil content in other granola recipes.



Adapted from Nigella Lawson's Feast

5 cups rolled oats
1 1/2 cups sliced almonds
1 1/2 cups pecan halves
1/2 c unsalted sunflower seeds
1/2 c unsalted pumpkin seeds
2 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
1/2 c brown sugar
1 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp salt
3/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
1/3 c maple syrup
2 tbsp honey
2 tbsp canola oil

Preheat oven to 300 degrees

Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl

Warm wet ingredients in a small saucepan at a low heat

Spread evenly over parchment lined baking sheets and bake for for 40 min, stirring every 10 minutes for even baking.  Store in ziplock bags or airtight glass jars.
